Audience: Mainframe developers and systems administrators of varying degrees of GUI competency.

Objective: This guide was designed to provide an introduction to a new graphical user interface for a product that was traditionally accessed only through a mainframe green screen.

Challenge: The audience for this guide varied widely. Many mainframe application developers spent their careers using the mainframe green screen – a text-based interface – and were not familiar with graphical interfaces. The newer application developers grew up using GUI-based applications. They were very familiar with GUIs and were able to navigate most of the features intuitively, but they lacked the decades of experience with mainframe technologies that their counterparts had. The challenge was to find a balance that was appropriate for both of the personas that comprised this diverse audience.
